Spring Cleaning & Medical Items

It's the first day of April, the sun is warmer, the birds are louder, and it finally feels like spring is coming to Western New York. If you're like most people, you're soon going to doing some good old-fashioned spring cleaning, and we want to take the opportunity to remind you that garbage can isn't your only option.

Spring Cleaning

InterVol takes a wide variety of medical supplies and equipment -- no item is too large or too small. We also take things that you might not normally classify as medical supplies! Click here for the full list or scroll down for a list of some common things you probably have in your house right now:

  • Baby Diapers

  • Band-Aids

  • Cotton Balls

  • Q-Tips

  • Unused Hotel-Sized Shampoo, Lotion, and Soap

  • Fitted & Flat Sheets for a Twin Bed (no holes, stains, rips, or tears)

  • Pillows & Pillowcases (no holes, stains, rips, or tears)

While InterVol cannot accept pharmaceutical waste in any form, including over-the-counter and prescription medications and vitamins, there are safe, FREE ways to properly dispose of them. The Monroe County Ecopark and many local police stations will accept them and safely destroy them. For locations, click here.

Most of those locations will also take your sharps/needles as long as they are properly packaged in either an approved sharps container or in a sturdy alternative that is capped and labeled as "SHARPS." Monroe County DES suggests either a two-liter bottle or a rugged laundry detergent bottle.
